Futures Day

On February 23rd, Imbler hosted a Futures Day in partnership with EOU's Early College Initiatives Program. It was a day for students, grades 6-12, to explore career pathways and organizations at IHS and in our community that will help them prepare for their future.

The day started with a welcome from EOU’s President Kelly Ryan. Students then participated in career pathway breakout sessions to learn about different careers. We welcomed 37+ speakers to share about their careers and the unique paths they took to get there. Career pathways ranged from agriculture finance to the medical field, from military and law enforcement to media and communications- and everything in between. Students also attended sessions by ECI to learn about goal setting and best practices for preparing for their future.

In addition to the breakout sessions, students interacted with colleges, workplaces, and local organizations in the high school gym at the forecasting tables. Students learned about different programs colleges offer, employment opportunities for them now and after they graduate, and organizations they can get involved with at IHS.

The event was sponsored by EOU’s Early College Initiatives Program. Thank you to the team at ECI for helping make this day happen! We are looking forward to bringing this back next year. We would love to bring in new speakers, career pathways, and table groups. If you are interested in participating please contact Reva Hartenstein, reva.hartenstein@imblersd.org
